Geez, what is the hype for Pushing Daisies all about? Do you have to be high to like the show, its like watching Peewee Herman or Sesame Street all over again?

I just don’t get it, does anyone?

I have the Toshiba P105-S9312, with the same hardware specifications, but Windows XP, as the model laptop for the video below. Toshiba sells these laptops as gamer machines with the latest model in Vista Home Premium. Some gamer machines, huh?

Everything works great in XP, and all the latest games run at full or near full level of details, including Oblivion, Supreme Commander and others, especially oldies like Fable.
However in Vista (driver bane of my existence) , Halo 2 is unplayable. I sunk 50$ on a game that I cant play which is really annoying. Store policy is not to refund “open software” like games. Also Oblivion and Supreme Commander run no more than 15-20 FPS, and Fable has so many issues with Vista that I cannot play it, ranging from disappearing models, stuck gameplay and really really bad slowdowns. Who is responsible for this mess and waste of my consumer money? Nvidia does not claim responsibility for their GeforceGo line of products, and Toshiba does’nt care now that we have bought the computer? and Vista fix the games. RELEASE THE PATCHES!!!

How sad and desperate that we have to rely on a patch from day 1 to have a game work, and that as computer users we expect a patch anyway.

So far I have to admit that the year has been disappointing. Save for Prison Break and Surface there has been a dearth of good shows released this year. Now I am sure that my detractors would be quick to point out that there is no real reason to call either of the two shows named above to be placed above its peers. However in a world where entertainment is placed on an equal footing, with livelihood, courting and that fun thing called living one’s life, the scripted, not reality of course, shows must be able to really extend ones imagination. After the 50 years of television history, it is indeed rare to experience the magic of big budget entertainment on a regular basis.
No offense to the cable companies, many of which spend significantly more on their releases, but the work produced by smaller companies with versatile actors, actresses and yes, CGI artists is worthy of the greatest of praise. Script writing has developed their art for a more edgy tone and darker plotlines. America and the world has changed, in this vulnerable times, the veil has been lifted off our eyes and we are more willing to accept even the most outrageous of truths.
In such an environment is it not acceptable to believe in conspiracies. Yes, conspiracies existed before Prison Break, but no conspiracy had a genius opposing it, just the common man. Michael Scofield is a man with a plan, one that is unfolding in the most nail-bitingly suspenseful manner, holding on to its viewers like a vice. Such brilliance will no doubt spawn its own copies next year, but for now it hold the title proudly as one of the best shows this year.
Surface was once derided for its Lost clone setting and a cash cow for NBC to use and throw away if it failed. However the people have spoken and Surface has emerged as an Abyss clone or very close to it. All kidding aside, the true novelty of the show lies in its big budget visual effects on small piles of cash. The consistent attention to detail over the creatures and the existence of, yet another, government conspiracy has fueled tensions in online debates over the relative merits of the three LOST clones. After the smoke clears, Surface is worthy of continued observation.
Speaking of LOST clones, Lost has held onto its fans building its viewership base over the summer, but like many other shows continuing from last year, a malaise has fallen over the screen. Much like Hollywood, the quality and experience of boob-tube entertainment has faded. The cause has yet to be determined, but it is hoped that the slump will reverse itself for the new year 2006, and that the midseason replacements will breathe new life in treasured companions, new and old, for a better couch experience tomorrow.

Are you kidding me? Ooo no one has considered UI before. Whats wrong with people?

Technology had to catch up to match user expectations. Webcams as an example have been around forever, or close enough, and yet the worldwide take off of the Video Conferencing revolution occuredd not more than 2 years ago. In fact popular tools like Skype got out of Video beta in the last few months. Web cams were there, but the ridiculous resolutions, slow connections, and poor driver support was what held it down before. And if anyone mentions iSight, I will snap something off.

You know its not paranoia if some one is really out to get you. According to her everyone is out to get at the youth of America. Figures the right wing nutjobs would take this tragedy and turn it into a “more guns for us” lobbbying. You end people having guns, by making guns so difficult to find and/or purchase that it requires rich criminals to do so. Extended oversight, and extensive taxes on guns sold to civilians might help. And revoke all gun carry permits, concealed or otherwise. Finally, turn up the punishments for carrying a gun to rival drug charges. The first few years might seem worse than the gang warfare of New York and LA throughout the country, but after such draconian measures, there might be a semblance of civilization at hand.

All they are, are another brick in the wall.

This even proves that all they have are bricks in their head. 73% of high schoolers polled by PiperJaffray in America, have been found to want to buy an iPod in the next 12 months. To add insult to injury 25% of responders in the same study were willing to fork over 500$ to own, and correspondingly will buy, the Apple iPhone. This my friends is utter madness, what could posses children to literally give away money for a device that has less features, provides less functionality, and is bigger than most other so-called “sexy” phones on the market.

The cry of the hardware innovators is blood curdling, and the loss of freedoms appalling, but I suppose someone has to prove the aphorism true. There really is one born every minute.
